Dr André Fisahn
Rhythmical electrical activity (oscillations) in neuronal networks of limbic and neocortical structures
The European Neuroscience Institute at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm

Research Area

Rhythmic electrical activity in neuronal networks is important for higher processes in he brain, such as learning, memory and perception.
Such oscillations are modulated on several distinct levels (e.g. ion channels, synaptic connections) by the targeted output of different structures in the brain.
The research of the group aims to elucidate modulating processes on the cellular, synaptic and network level of rhythmic electrical activity in the nervous system.
The action of different neuromodulators on the feedforward and feedback mechanisms observed in the septohippocampal slice preparation will be investigated.
